April’s minutes…


Paul Nuss presented information about the Bedford County Outdoor Experience to be at
the Bedford County Airport (HMZ) on June 25, 2011. The club then discussed details
regarding our capabilities of supporting the event and to what extent.


Charlie Becker brought a small piece of fiberglass work from his RV-8 project to show a
brief demonstration of how to use the “peel-ply” technique to not load up your fiberglass
work with extra weight.


J.C. Housel presented information on aircraft magnetos.

Tell your friends! Tell your relatives! Saturday, June 25 is the Bedford County Outdoor
Experience! It’s being held at the Bedford County Airport (HMZ) from 7am to 12pm.
There will be numerous outdoor displays as well as a fly-in/drive-in breakfast. Breakfast
is all you can eat for the following prices: Adults - $7, Kids 4 to 12 - $4, Kids 3 & under
– free. Hot cakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice are all on the menu. There will also
be Young Eagle rides and a car show, weather permitting. For more information, call

As mentioned in the previous article, there will be Young Eagle rides at the Bedford
Airport Day, June 25.
EAA Chapter 400 will be providing these rides. There are
numerous Boy Scouts and Civil Air Patrol groups present, so we will need all hands on
deck. Anyone willing to fly and/or help out on the ground will be greatly appreciated!


Also for the Bedford Airport, Chapter 400 would like to have a small display present.
Anyone willing to help arrange and/or man the display will be valued.

It’s fly-in season again at Ickes Airport in Osterburg, PA. Fly-ins are planned for the
following dates:

July 8-10, 2011

September 2-5, 2011


Come out and enjoy numerous ultralight airplanes, powered parachutes, trikes, general
aviation aircraft, sport planes, R/C airplanes, and a whole lot more. Flying activities are
all day, weather permitting.

EAA Chapter 1041, The Gettysburg Barnstormers, will host their Wings, Wheels, &
Pancakes Fly-In/Drive-In Breakfast on June 4 & 5 at Gettysburg Regional Airport (W05).
Breakfast will be served both days starting at 8 am through 12 Noon. Menu includes
pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage,
homefries, coffee, tea, & juice. Adults $ 7.00, kids under
12 $3.00.  Free shuttle service to & from the Visitor Center of Gettysburg National
